Support for Autistic Women
& Gender Diverse Folks

sign that reads "proud to be me"
sign that reads "this is a safe space"

At Safely Seen, we know that being autistic while navigating life as a women, non-binary or gender diverse person can come with unique challenges.
Many of us have grown up masking, being misunderstood, or feeling that constant societal pressure to "fit in"
We're here to change that, by creating support spaces that feel safe, validating, and that are actually built around and for neuro divergent people by neuro divergent people.

Our Approach

We believe support should feel gentle, it should be at your pace without pressure or judgment. It should be affirming, celebrating our genders, identities and neurodivergence. It should always be safe, not just for you but for us too, we both deserve to have our needs respected. Safely Seen believes that neurodivergent people shouldn't be expected to disregard their disabilities just because they are working, there is space for all of our needs if we make it. It's a collaborative support system, you choose what matters most to you, and we walk along side you.

What support can look like:

Our 1:1 support is flexible and will be shaped around your needs and goals & together we might:

  • Explore ways to reduce masking and build comfort being authentically you.

  • Spend time is safe community spaces.

  • Develop strategies for sensory regulation and everyday routines.

  • Work on confidence is social settings. friendships and relationships.

  • Use creative outlets(journaling, arts, crafts)as ways of self expression.

  • Build independence through daily living skills, community access and planning.

  • Simply share time together in a low-pressure way - having company can be support in itself.

Creating Comfort

We know support is about more than just "doing tasks". It's about feeling safe enough to be yourself too.
Some of the ways we provide comfort include:

  • Sensory friendly sessions, breaks when and if you need, no pressure to talk, calm environments.

  • Clear communication, checking in about how you prefer to communicate (spoken, written, text, or other non verbal prompts)

  • Flexibility, adjusting plans if things change on the day and understanding the uncomfort that may bring you.

  • Affirming spaces, respect for pronouns, identity and lived experience.

  • Choice and control, you decide how sessions run and what feels right.
